While the Natal Reading focuses on the overall static promise of the chart, the Present and Future Reading shows how your chart modulates over time.

Vedic Dashas, Your Life’s Music

Extensively used in Vedic astrology, the Vimshottari Dasha predictive technique offers an incredibly accurate way of depicting the general flavor of our life experience.
A Dasha means a period of time, ruled by a certain planet. So we have a Sun Dasha in our lives, a Moon Dasha, a Mars Dasha, a Mercury Dasha, and so on.
I personally sense Dashas as a sort of underlying life soundscape that subtly changes over the years – shifting from peaceful to scary, from agitated to hopeful…
Then, on top of each Mahadasha or major period, we have the Antardashas or sub-periods. These are more like shorter tunes playing over the soundscape. Some harmonize well with the underlying music, while others create jarring contrast.

Unfolding of a ‘Present and Future’ Reading
Typically, a Present and Future Reading with me follows these steps:
- To begin: A presentation of your Vedic Dasha and Antardasha, describing the general flavor of the planetary period you’re currently in or about to enter, and the stakes at hand.
- Then: An overview of the main transits for the upcoming year from a Western perspective, setting dates.
- As the case may be: A discussion of any important astrological milestone you’re approaching or currently in, typically Planetary Returns and/or Maturations. You can learn more on these in the Ongoing Guidance page.
- Wrapping up: Recommendations for remedial measures, when appropriate.
This outline may change based on the specifics of your year ahead. Nothing is rigid; everything is tailored to you.
